Summer Academy 2023 - Climate crises and environmental migration. Perspectives and innovative tools
City of Peace Summer Academy brings together for a week experts on climate change, innovators leading projects for environmental sustainability, architects engaged in eco-sustainable projects, and practitioners involved in hosting projects to confront the issue that will directly or indirectly determine the future of migration: climate change. Also planned is a workshop with the Mario Cucinella Architect studio to put into partica innovative methodologies for creating environmentally sustainable pojects for migrants. It is an experiment of a small social incubator that can bring participants into dialogue with the host context and provide the tools for building a constructive confrontation within contemporary society to understand and make explicit the causes of migration.
WHERE AND WHEN - The City of Peace Summer Academy is held from 4 to 8 September 2023 in Rionero in Vulture (Pz), a small village in Basilicata where shelter projects for refugees and asylum seekers promoted by the City of Peace Foundation chaired by Nobel Peace Prize winner Jody Williams have been active since 2014, together with Arci Basilicata.

The deadline for submission of applications is July 29 2023 - 18:00 Rome time.

The application fee is € 400,00 per person (which include food and accommodation, transports during the week of the summer camp, educational material and the insurance). Furthermore, it’s foreseen as well the subscription to “Friends of the City of Peace Association” of € 5,00.
Since places are limited, applications will be accepted according to the order of arrival and until the maximum number of places available is reached. In any case, priority will be given to scholarship winners.
At least 3 scholarships are foreseen to cover the entire quota.
A certificate of attendance will be issued, and the Potenza Province Order of Architects will award 20 training credits to members who attend the summer academy.
The final program with the names of the speakers will be published in the coming weeks.
